Discover 5 Tips to Save Money in College
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedMost college students that I know of are struggling to survive and are looking for ideas to lower their bills while trying to maintain their standard of living. Below are 5 tips that you can try to help you cut down your bills:
1) Save on food
Quite a few students survive on food such as pizza. An alternative would be to purchase groceries near the end of the day at reduced prices and cook for your housemates. The more people sharing the food, the less cost per person.
2) Minimise your transport expenses
Why on earth do you need a vehicle to move round the college grounds when you can zip around in a motorized scooter? Motorized scooters are getting more and more popular among college students and are a really cool form of transport. One of the more popular models is the Razor E300 electric scooter. You don’t even have to pay for gas. If you don’t fancy converting to electricity just yet, you might want to take a look at the wide range of gas powered scooters instead.
3) Reduce your academic related expenses
Let’s face it, once you have finished with a course, you’ll never touch that textbook anymore. Why don’t you sell them to incoming students and get some money back? You don’t need new textbooks too, unless a new edition has just been released. Why not purchase 2nd hand textbooks. Places such as ebay, college related forums and other online marketplaces may be good places to look.
4) Cut your phone expenses
If your college hostel comes with an internet connection, why not get a good headset and use skype instead? In the long run, the amount saved will be great, especially if you are making long distance phone calls.
5) Reduce your entertainment bills
You may not be aware of the amount of money you can save if you make use of the student discounts available for a wide variety of products and services. You can shop, dine in restaurants, and purchase software, etc at greatly discounted prices if you know where the bargains are.
Hopefully these five tips are of use to you to have a great time at college without needing to scrimp and save. Have fun!
